Augusta National CNN —A ticket to the Masters, known as a badge, is one of the most elusive items in all of sports. The use of cell phones is strictly prohibited on the property of Augusta National, meaning that patrons – fans at the Masters – quickly become oblivious to outside events. Or you come to the Masters.”During these times of heightened international tensions, that makes Augusta National feel like one of the most isolated places on earth. Maddie Meyer/Getty ImagesIt’s hard to make an argument against Augusta’s restrictive cell phone policies. “For her, the liberation of being without a cell phone was absolutely spectacular,” he said.

CNN —There was something uncanny about Sydney Sweeney’s look at the Vanity Fair Oscars party last night. Last week, Sweeney made her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut with a string of jokes centered around her sexualized typecasting, rumors of affairs with co-stars and the size of her chest. Were Sweeney’s breasts, as one writer for Canada’s National Post put it, “double-D harbingers of the death of woke”? “(But) with Sweeney, what it really comes down to is this: Sex sells.”Since then, it’s been open season for Sydney Sweeney boob jokes, especially in comments under the actor’s Instagram posts. “Leave Sydney Sweeney’s boobs out of this,” wrote The Cut.

It's hard to tell, for a simple reason: The data on the safety of robot cars sucks. Until robot cars have traveled for hundreds of millions of miles, there's no way to get a statistically significant, unequivocal conclusion. If the data on robot cars is equivocal or incomplete, then those rules should keep them off the road. In a sense, she's Elon Musk's worst nightmare. To her, the safety of self-driving cars is not an abstract question.

Originally known as xAd, GroundTruth was founded in 2003 and has raised more than $160 million in funding, per PitchBook. GroundTruth's advertising platform is powered by its location data that allows advertisers to model their campaigns based on real-world information, like visits to stores. GroundTruth almost reached a deal to sell WeatherBug in 2019, but talks ultimately collapsed, according to two sources familiar with the matter. The current plan is to sell WeatherBug and GroundTruth as separate assets, the people familiar with the process said. As new privacy laws roll out across the world, increasing scrutiny has been poured on companies that transact location data.

New York CNN —The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued a North Carolina Hooters restaurant for allegedly discriminating against Black or darker-skinned “Hooters Girls,” the federal agency announced Thursday. In March 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Greensboro, North Carolina, Hooters temporarily laid off around 43 employees, dubbed “Hooters Girls” by the restaurant chain. There was a “marked shift in the racial composition of the restaurant’s Hooters Girls workforce,” when employees were called back in, according to the EEOC release. The complaint also alleged that the darker-skinned Hooters Girls “experienced racial hostility and observed preferential treatment of White employees while employed at the restaurant” and received less-lucrative shifts. The Greensboro restaurant had no comment and directed CNN to the company’s public relations department.

DirecTV has struck a multiyear deal to continue broadcasting the National Football League's "Sunday Ticket" package to commercial establishments, including bars and restaurants. The NFL sold the "Sunday Ticket" commercial rights to EverPass Media, a joint venture owned by private equity firm RedBird Capital Partners and the NFL, earlier this year. The companies confirmed the "Sunday Ticket" deal on Thursday afternoon. Bars and restaurants, such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters, rely on "Sunday Ticket" to bring in big crowds on Sundays during the NFL season. The NFL signed a seven-year deal with Google 's YouTube TV for the residential "Sunday Ticket" broadcast rights in December.
Pan Am was an icon of early travel that no longer exists, and even Hooters had its own airline. Meanwhile, the Concorde was an engineering marvel that wowed passengers, but it no longer flies. Did you know that the restaurant chain Hooters once had its own airline, where the wait staff got a chance to work at 32,000 feet? Getting a new airline off the ground can be the easy part, but many struggle to stay above the competition. America's premier airline boasted the first ever scheduled international flight and became an icon of early air travel.
A Hooters owner says a woman verbally abused staff at the restaurant, the Liverpool Echo reported. The owner said the woman coughed in her face and jumped on a bar stool before being arrested. A woman came into the Liverpool restaurant, which claims to be the world's biggest Hooters, and acted aggressively towards workers on Thursday, according to the report. The Hooters restaurant became only the second in the UK after opening late last year. The company told Insider there was "no validity" to the claims.
The restaurant chain Hooters, known for servers wearing revealing uniforms, is not shutting down or rebranding, contrary to claims circulating online. Examples of the claim shared online can be viewed (here) and (here). The 2017 article did not claim that Hooters made the reported move to close certain stores specifically due to the Pornhub study, however. Nor did the article claim that the chain was shutting its doors to rebrand for a millennial clientele. Hooters is not shutting down or rebranding to suit millennial tastes, a spokesperson for the chain said.
A viral tweet falsely claimed Hooters is shutting down and rebranding to appeal to millennials. "There is no validity to this story," Hooters of America said in a statement shared with Insider. The tweet — posted by Daily Loud, a website focused on hip-hop and viral news — claimed Hooters "was shutting down and 'rebranding' after a new study found that millennials 'aren't that into boobs.'" The 2017 study by Pornhub found younger people were less likely to search for breasts on pornography websites. After a series of viral TikTok videos shared by staffers, Hooters adjusted its policy to make the new uniforms optional.

Twitter is already facing a proposed class action claiming the layoffs are imminent and will violate U.S. and California laws if employees are not given advance notice or severance pay. The law defines mass layoffs as those affecting at least 500 employees during a 30-day period, or at least 50 employees if layoffs impact at least one-third of a company's workforce. The lawsuit claims the layoffs violate the WARN Act and a similar California law. The law firm behind that case, Boston-based Lichten & Liss-Riordan, also represents the Twitter workers who sued on Thursday. Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz Corp (HERTZ.UL), restaurant chain Hooters and Florida hotel operator Rosen Hotels and Resorts Inc all settled WARN Act lawsuits over pandemic-related layoffs.
